about me
aBOUT ME
Hi I am Carrie, founder of The Gym at Bayfield. I do not give much credit to happenstance or the coincidence that you landed on this page by default. I know you found your way here and there is a reason
One thing for sure, you were curious. Maybe you clicked on the page to learn a little about me as it relates to you.
Maybe the number on your last birthday card has started showing up as creaky joints and an achy back and you are losing interest in your active hobbies. Or maybe you just know it’s time to get some of those! Whatever the reason, welcome. I hope you’ll enjoy your time as you look around and learn more about what I do here. And now a little more about me.
You could say my interest led me to a unique blend of many disciplines of study. I started my formal studies in human nutrition, went on to dental hygiene and then to exercise kinesiology. I am a learning junkie and a certificate enthusiast!
Though it does not represent all I have to offer my clients, I call myself a “Body Mechanic Specialist.” I specialize in teaching gentle and effective stretches to activate muscles to realign your spine and body. I have spent the last 27 years studying the human body. It hasn’t all been day in, day out, head stuck in some thick hard bound copy of Anatomy and Physiology, but thousands of hours in books/classes/instruction and thousands of hours working with people. Helping them to meet their goals and live their lives in less pain.
Whether you need help to move without pain or proper coaching in functional exercise movement, we’ve got you covered. We offer everything from one-on-one rehabilitation therapy to group strength and conditioning classes.

I just love the human body. I also love the human mind and spirit. Healing usually involves all of these. The body, mind and spirit. We have so much potential to unlock. Most importantly I have learned that we have infinite abilities to heal. Your journey has probably been hard and maybe you are looking for help. You are in the right place. I can provide some of that, whether it is alignment and movement or help with sleep hygiene, proper nutrition or just breathing. You can call, email, stop by or use the button above to make an appointment.
MyCoaching Style
- I LISTEN, to your questions, fears and your body.
- I UNDERSTAND defeat, I understand how pain can be immobilizing and the obstacles we put in the way.
- I CARE about your healing journey.
- I ENCOURAGE along the way. When things feel hard and you need a push.
- I CHEER you on and celebrate with you as you progress.
You might also discover I don’t yell and strive to be open-minded. You have the ultimate say in your journey. I thrive on learning what makes each human body and mind tick. So I love discovering what makes you who you are, what brought you in, what you’ve experienced and what your goals are. This helps to build a customized program that is right for you.
For Fun
- I have been a mom since 2002. My husband and I have three, almost, grown children.
- I live on a farm and am passionate about living a sustainable life. We raise 'Belties' (Belted Galloway cows), horses, chickens, goats and the occasional pig.
- My husband’s dad and mine went to high school together graduating the same year. Later I worked for his dad's college roommate (that’s how we met).
- I am a homebody. I love the land and being outside. My green house is a growing retreat in the winter when my garden slumbers.
- I love to cook and experiment with recipes.
- I am a homesteader. I enjoy the creativity and don't mind the hard work.
-
- I have run several half marathons and one full-length, completed mud runs and tough mudders, climbed 14ers (mountains that are at least 14,000 high), and jumped off of cliffs. But I refuse to scuba. (Snorkeling is as far as I go!)

- I like to compete in figure fitness competitions.
- And I believe in miracles.
